Glad to see that you're back Caitlyn!
Did an easy mile run today and then did the boot camp that happens while Rylie is at track practice. That included a warm up, core work, a mile run (which I did at an 8:02 pace, super fast for me). Then we did 100 yards of lunges. There was a series of lunches mied with crunches and push ups too. Did a 30 yard crab walk and a 30 yard front crawl - who would have thunk that'd be so hard. Did high knee skips and runs. Did some suicides and burpees. It was a pretty good workout. I wasn't really feeling the idea of working out this afternoon. Between the workouts yesterday and late nights b/c of my book and an all day company picnic today it was a challenge. But I'm glad I did it.
Think I might do a yoga workout tomorrow.

CCT 6/30/11
Hi, it's me again.
I'm alive, I swear. Thank you so much for all your support and love while I lost my mind: I don't how I would be able to wake up in the mornings if I didn't know I have such a wonderful and supportive family to back me up.
Yesterday I ran for 25 min at a constant pace and walked for 10 with hills, then did about 15 min of weight training (really wasn't feeling the gym, but man did I need it!)
Today I ran for 40 min with 3 part sprints and then did about 35 min of a Shape weight training workout. Feeling much better about it today.
Weather is gorgeous today, and I bought my tickets to the midnight showing of the last Harry Potter movie coming up in a few weeks, so that's a nice bright spot :)
Miss and love you both and can't wait to see you soon!

MRG 6.29
Swam this morning with the tri club. Thought it was going to be terrible b/c I was up late the last couple of nights reading and was dragging, but it was a good workout. Figured out some of my stroke issues. Did about 2000 I think. Kind of lost track.
Went to the tri club workout this afternoon. We did a brick. Started with a 10.6 mile ride such was a hill climb repeat with the goal of getting faster each time we climbed. Then finished off with a short but fast mile run. The ride was longer than expected so we cut the run short. Think I ended up doing about an 8 min mile though since I was keeping pace with the "runners".
Plan on sleeping in tomorrow. We have a company picnic that will take all my energy. Then I'm going to join in the bootcamp fun while Ry is at track.
Hope all is well

MRG 6.27 & 6.28
Went swimming on Monday morning. It wasn't the greatest swim I've had. Only did about 1500 and I was up close to 2400 when I was swimming at the other pool. I've been having issues with my stroke. Last week I was holding my head up high - which may have been a function of swimming at an outdoor pool with the sun etc. Monday I worked on keeping my head down and leading with my shoulder, but it was one of those workouts where it was an effort to just complete the workout. Frustrating, but was glad that I did it. The coach wasn't there either -so it wa easier to "cheat". I was having issues getting through sets of 100 without stopping for breath etc.
This mornig I went for a 15.x mile ride. Did it in about an hour. I was frustrated b/c I couldn't get aboe 10 mph. Then I realized that it was windy! At one point, I was going down hill, pedaling as though I was climbing, and was only at 13 mph... Felt good after the ride - when I was going the right direction with the wind I got up to 35mph.
Rylie had track this afternoon so I ran for about 30 minutes. Did about 2.25 miles. Just ran more to keep the body moving. It was pretty hot and decided not to push it too much. I've got swimming tomorrow and the tri club track / bike workout tomorrow afternoon.
I need to work on my nutrition a bit. I've been struggling with the workouts the last week or so and I think I'm not properly fueled. I've been just feeling draggy as I workout. I'm going to try and eat a little something before swimming and then will eat real breakfast afterwards. Just need to get some more protien or something.
Caitlyn - I know you're struggling right now. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
Love you!

My body is waging war against me. I had a terrible food weekend, unfortunately: it was like all I could think about was the next time I could shove more junk food in my face. It's like I have absolutely no power of will left to resist: am I getting weaker mentally, or are my physical impulses just getting exponentially stronger? And I'm no longer stressed about the GRE, so I don't know what's triggering this...I wonder if I'm missing some nutrients in my regular diet and it's kicking my body into survival eating mode? I don't know, I just want it to stop!
Went for a very perfunctory 20 min "wog" this morning (my insides were not happy with me) and then went for a 30 min run during my lunch break today, which went much better. I'll probably try to do a little yoga or tai chi or something after work today, in the hopes of bringing myself back to mindfulness...lord knows I need it!
Hopefully things are better with you both: can't wait to see you soon and hopefully soak in some of your happy/balanced Colorado vibes!
Love,
C

Send love and luck, please
Hi, it's me.
Sorry I haven't posted lately. I've been trying to sleep lots this week and have thus been avoiding any computer stuff that's not 100% critical. Unfortunately, I failed a little last night and didn't sleep well...b/c surprise, I had a mini-binge episode. Again. Even though I took Nyquil and tried to everything in my power to stay relaxed. It doesn't seem to matter what I do anymore.
It wasn't as bad as some of them, but I still don't feel well today, and this is the day before my exam. I'm going to yoga tonight, so hopefully that will help keep me out of trouble. I'm scared to go home afterwards. I really need to sleep well and just be normal tonight, so I'd appreciate any good vibes you can send my way! Thanks for all your love and support. Can't wait to see you both soon!
Love,
C

Did a shape workout this am. Did one of the bikini body ones. Didn't seem too bad but my legs are a little sore now. Of course it might have something to do with all the stuff I did yesterday.

MRG 6.22
Busy workout day today. I swam with the tri club this morning. It was a great swim - outside it was cool but the water was a good temperature. Swam 1800 (1.02 miles) in the hour. I have to work on leading with my shoulder - apparently I'm leading with my hand too much. Plus today I was swimming with my head up a lot. I think that might be a result of swimming outside with the sun or something. Did some 300s with 15 sec in between. At the end we had to swim lengths of the pool with 3 breaths, then 2 breaths and then 1! Never did the 1 breath thing but did get down to 2. Holy smokes is that hard! But good for my lung capacity. It was a fun swim too b/c we swam the workout together. At the other swims, the workout was written down and we all did it at our own pace. This one we started together and Rich called out times to us. it was nice b/c I was able to have a pace with another girl in the pool, so when I felt like I was going to die it pushed me to keep up with her.
Then this afternoon we went to the track for the tri club run. That was quite the workout too. We did a mile warm up. Then we did 200s and had to get faster on each one, then we'd walk a 200. We also did 3 - 800s again getting faster on each one. Again, I was able to find someone that had a similar pace so that helped me get through it. I'm really not an interval kind of girl but I know they are good for me. It's just nice to have someone tell you what to do and keep you motivate.
Not sure what my plan is tomorrow. Rylie has a track meet - so I'll have to get up and do something. Think I might just do a strength workout. I had planned on riding tomorrow morning, but I have a flat so that'll have to wait.

No workout for me this morning. Rylie had track practice so I try to run while that's going on. Ziggy and Tanner were there for the first part, so I only got about 30 minutes of running in, but that was enough. One of those weird days today where it felt harder than normal. I ran one mile at a constant pace - warm-up ish. It was about a 10:11 min mile. Mile two I alternated with 200 sprint and 200 jog. The last mile I ran. There's a boot camp there at the same time and the coach of that is the same as the CR Tri club that I'm joining. So he had me running with them. It was a steady pace too - but a little faster. Didn't get the timing on that one - just felt faster. According to my HR monitor my HR spiked to 183, but I don't know about that reading. I have to send it in b/c the battery is bad.
Plan on swimming with the tri club tomorrow morning and then doing a running workout with them at night. Should be fun.

Well here is the deal... I have chronic bursitis of the hip and have been in a fair (ok alot) amount of pain. I am waking up in the night and am having to stop during my day. I have been icing my hip also alternating with heat. From past dr. visit with regards to this, rest and NO aggrevation of the area is the treatment as well. It takes a bit of time for the bursa, to calm down and the inflammation to calm down as well. Have also been taking anti-inflammatories as well.
It is the PITS between my hip and knees. I DON'T approve of this, but am truly listening to my body now. I don't want to continue to be so darn uncomfortable.
So for now I am resting. I am hoping to start GENTLE stretching tomorrow (?) if it doesn't cause anymore pain. I need to be diligent because I want to be ok for Praying Hands on Friday.
Needless to say, my running days are over, short lived as they were. Thank you both for your encouragement, and I will start to do more yoga, gym ball, hopefully swimming, and of course Praying Hands as I heal.
Love you both!!

Happy Summer! (At 1:16 pm at least!)
Yay for Elsie! I did one of her short podcasts this morning myself after running (25 min with hills and sprints): it felt like the change of seasons deserved some yoga :) It was an inversions practice, which is great for calming the nerves as well.
I can certainly look around and see if I can locate anyone who might be able to recommend some poses for you, Meghann: it might be tricky, but I'll do my best ;) Also, don't beat yourself up for not being in the "yoga frame of mind": happens to all of us, and you can't force it. Sometimes you just gotta do the poses and let them work their own magic (which they are doing, I promise, even if it doesn't immediately feel like it).
Love you both and am SOOOO excited to come see you soon!

Did an Elsie Yoga podcast today. It was focused on fire, but I'm not going to lie - I totally didn't pay attention to the "message" behind the yoga and all the fire stuff. Just did the moves. Paid attention to the alignment stuff and all that, but wasn't in the full yoga frame of mind.
It was a gross, rainy mornign so I decided that yoga sounded good. Definitely need to incorporate more of that b/c my flexibility is going out the window! Just need shorter little burst of workouts that I can do in conjunction with the other workouts. Just need to take the time to outline those. If only I knew a yoga certified person taht could outline a few moves for me to do after cycling, running and swimming that would focus on those specific muscles.... :) Guess I'llhave to put in a request for that one.
Didn't do any workout stuff over the weekend other than a mini hike with Rylie on Saturday.
Caitlyn, hope you're feeling better and you don't have to be nice to us. We're family and it's okay. Can't wait to see you soon.

Hi there,
I want to start by apologizing to both of you for my general rottenness this weekend. There's no excuse for me taking it out on you just because we're related...if anything, I should be nicer to you than everyone else! But thank you for putting up with me and still loving and supporting me even when I have a stick up my rear end.
Friday was a short 20 min run in the morning and my crazy yoga class in the evening. Then I fell apart that night and slumped into binge mode. Dunno what my deal is and why I can't just stay happy like a normal human being...
Saturday, thankfully Katie invited me to the gym so I did 30 min on the elliptical, which was all I could take without puking. Rest of the day was a mess.
Sunday I ran for 30 min at the gym (constant pace) and did about 25 min of free weights. Acro in the afternoon, which always helps my mood, thank goodness.
Today I ran for 30 min with drills, rowed for 10 and did 15 min of arm-focused weight training.
I love and miss you both and can't wait to come see you soon! I promise I will have an attitude adjustment before then!

Yep, it's true, I am still alive after yesterday. My knees however have been protesting rather annoyingly. I decided to not over due today. Actually I didn't want to do ANYTHING at all, but I did.
I went for a med. short bike ride on my woogety bike. I even got up Down West Ride without having to walk the bike. I know, I know wouldn't affect most people, but hey, need I say more?
Dad expressed concern today for me in running, he is not sure it is the right thing to do with my knees. Time will tell. I think I probably noticed a bit more since I didn't have proper knee braces on yesterday.
Tomorrow is training at Praying Hands...will keep you posted.
Love you both.
CAITLYN WHERE ARE YOU???

Did my tri strength routine this morning. It's been a while since I've done that and I really need to make sure that I fit that in my workouts.
This afternoon mom met me at the track while Rylie had track practice. We walked and ran a total of 3 miles. Mom is way to hard on herself - she took off running and had a great pace. for the first mile we walked 300 and ran 100. Then we did 100 run, 100 walk, 100 run, 100 walk for a mile. The last mile we did run 200 walk 200. Mom did a great job - I slowed her down a bit just to increase the stamina. We did some stretching and abs. Plus mom had been swimming earlier in the day!

I was a bumb yestrday and opted to sleep in instead of working out. Totally should have done something b/c I was a super grump, but that got me motivated to get me out of bed this morning.
Did a brick workout this morning. Rode my bike 9.08 miles and then ran 2.7x miles. Did the ride in 38 minutes and the run in 28. Think my calorie count was 450ish. I have to send my heart rate monitor in to get new batteries b/c it's all jacked up. But it's like my security blanket and I don't want to give it up. I need to though, b/c it will be about 2 weeks before I get it back.
Found the ride a little rough this morning. It was pretty solid climb ride, but I seemed to be slower than I expected. Endomondo said my average speed was 14.2, but that's because when i went downhill I was going 30. On the climbs I was more like 9 mph. The run was at a 10:26 min mile pace. Not bad. I'd like to get faster.
Rylie decided last night that she wants to do more to get fit so she asked to go "train" tonight. So we all rode our bikes to the high school and then ran at the track. Then we rode home. It was fun. Plus I met a group at the track that is a Tri club here in Castle Rock. They seem to be in my age range and they all had their kids at the track. Most of the kids were in our kids range too. So I think I'm going to start doing workouts with them.
Rylie has decided that she wants to do a triathlon so that should be fun too.

Well, I am still alive. Was sore when I went to bed last night and this morning. I know that it was from the gym ball. But, I got up, and did the 12 "Stay Loose, Stretches for Runners" then did my "The Couch-to-5K" run.
Five minute brisk warm up walk, then alternated 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds of walking for 20 min. Followed by a 5 min cool down walk. Then I did a second set of Stretches for Runners.
I burned 208 calories, max heart rate 164 , Average heart rate 131 and was in the zone (130-145) for 10:30.
I am not sure if next week I will be able to jog for 90 seconds, these hills around here are killers.
Tomorrow, I am going to swim at GM's pool for a half hour or so.
Love you both!

Yay! So glad to see you both back! :)
Here's what I've been up to:
Monday I ran for 25 min with hill intervals and biked for 15 with hills, then did a 20-25 min "reshape your rear view" workout from Shape (and man my butt hurt the next day...and the day after!)
Tuesday I just ran for 30 min with speed intervals (had to be at work at 8)
Today I did 90 min of power yoga
Love and miss you both! Getting excited to see you soonish! :)

Morning,
Thought this time I might advise the two of you... don't I repeat do not get old, it is the pits! All joking aside, this morning I did the pilates gym ball. It was good because I hadn't done it for some time and it reminded me of muscles (or lack there of) that I hadn't used in some time.
Hopefully I will be able to get out of bed tomorrow and do day two of "The couch to 5K"

Alright, alright, I'll come back!!! I've been using Endomondo so I forget to post here. Although today, my Endomondo decided I only ran .1 miles when it was really 5.6 miles. Did that in 58:31. Wore my heart rate monitor and think it was an average heart rate of 135ish. Don't remember for sure, but I need to send my stuff in b/c the batteries are dying so I get some skewed data.
Was an interesting morning since I got up, not really in the mood to work out. Went back to bed, but then convinced myself that I really should get up and get out for a run. Glad I did, b/c it was a good run. Good temperature and pretty morning. Plus, if I hadn't done it; I would have been annoyed all day that I didn't get up and out. Always feels better when I get out there and get moving.
Think I may end up doing a brick workout tomorrow - with a bit of a run and a bit of a ride. Also want to get back to swimming.

Hi, it's me again, your resident nag ;)
Today I just ran for 25 min with speed intervals and walked for 10 with hills (had to be in to work by 8).
What about you guys? :)

Back and at it!
Alright, kids, we've been sucking at this (me included): I know it'd good for all of us, so let's get back to it! It only takes a second! :)
Here's my morning today:
Ran for 30 min with sprints and drills
Rowed for 10 min
About 25 min of weight training (total body - from Shape mag)
And you? ;)
Love and miss you both!
