CCT 7/25

Congrats, Meghann, on a great race! Hope you're resting up today :)

Lots of yoga this weekend (Fri and Sat), then gym on Sunday (30 min running, about 30 min weight training) and then acro. Today I went for a 45+ min run.

Two days! :)

Melting....

Morning,

I feel like Frosty the Snowman out here...heat index of 115 degrees :(
Ran for 30 min this morning, and going to yoga and kirtan tonight :)
Think I'll go to yoga tomorrow as well, cause it's gonna be way too hot to run outside! Can't WAIT to get out of this swamp! ;)

I'm Alive!

Sorry I haven't posted in FOREVER...today's the first day in two weeks I haven't had to start work at 8, and work straight through the day without having time to do anything on the computer other than briefly check my email. And my internet at home still isn't working, not that I'd have much time to use it anyway...

Anyway, enough excuses. Today I got a good full workout in for the first time in a while: ran for 25 min with 3 part sprints, walked for 15 with hills and did 30 min of all-over weight training. Been running a lot in my neighborhood area and really enjoying all the scenery and zone-out time, though not so much the humidity...I think it's time to invest in a decent pair of shoes though, cause my hips are yelling at me a bit...

Can't WAIT to come see you both soon! Looking forward to hearing about your triathalon, Meghann: good luck! (not that you'll need it, you're so well prepared!) Where've you been, Mom? I might not have been posting but I've been trying to at least skim the blog, and I haven't seen you on here in ages...

Love you both and see you soon!

MRG 7.18

Swimming, Swimming, in the Swimming Pool - when days are hot, when days are cool, in the swimming pool...

Swam this morning.  Did about a mile with successive builds on each set.  My stroke was  bit off - wasn't pulling quite right and my hips were sinking, but had things back in shape more or less by the end of it.  Plan on running tomorrow morning since Ry has her last track meet tomorrow night so I won't be able to do boot camp tomorrow night. Then I'll swim on Wednesday and ride on Thurs.  Then I'll be done until the big day!

MRG 7.12

Went for about a 45 min ride this morning.  Did 11.5 miles.  Decided to take a different route this morning, hoping to avoid as many hills, but that didn't work out so well.  Found some long hills but it was a good ride.  I enjoyed it.  Planning on swimming tomorrow morning.

MRG 7.11 & weekend

Hi All -
So this weekend we hiked for about 5-6 miles at Hahn's Peak Lake.  It was beautiful and had a little elevation change.  Nothing major though.  Then we rode our mountain bikes around Steamboat Lake for about 5 miles.  I swam in Steamboat Lake to get a feel for the open water again.  Wow do I needto work on that in the next two weeks!  I think I probably only swam about 600-700m, but it was so hard!  I forgot how the bubbles in the water mess with my mojo.

Swam in the pool this morning did about 1900.  It was a hard workout.  We did a lot of pulling work and wow, my back and shoulders were feeling it when we were done!  Planned on going to Chatfield tonight to do some open water work, but it was storming so that didn't work out so well.

Plan on jumpin gon the bike tomorrow morning.

CCT 7/11

Happy 7-Eleven Day! :)

Sorry I haven't been posting regularly this weekend: the internet isn't working for my computer at my new place for some reason, so I've been surviving via my phone and work computer...hopefully that will be fixed soon!

Today I went for a 45 min run (only meant to go for 30 cause I had to be at work early, but when you're running outside you have to get back home somehow, and I always seem to underestimate how long it will take...)

And you guys? Mom, what's up with you?

Counting down the days!

Love, C :)

MRG 7.7

Today I wasn't much in the mood to get up and work out, but was so glad that I did it!  Decided to go for a run and was just going to do a short one followed by stretching, but once I got running I realized it was a good run day.  Went for about 4.6 miles with a fair amount of elevation and did it in about 46 minutes.  It felt pretty good since I have been doing a lot of interval running at the track.  this was one of the first "regular" runs I've done in a while.

Looking forward to being on the bike this weekend and hopefully getting into some open water.  Getting excited for the tri but can't believe it's only about 2 weeks away!

Caitlyn - Glad to hear that you're looking at your options.  I'm so proud that you've been sharing your struggles even if it's not always easy to understand.  Make sure you get some sleep - it's so worth it!

Love you both.

Phew!

It's been a crazy past few days: in at 8 am every day this week thus far (thankfully, don't have to be in at 8 tomorrow!) and two 11-hour days yesterday and today (on my feet all day!), then busy with unpacking (meh), getting to know the new roomie, and going-away celebrations in the evening...failing at getting more than 5 hours of sleep a night. :( Still struggling with food drama a bit. It's impossible to explain to someone who doesn't know what it's like to be addicted to something. It's crazy: like literally everything else in your mind goes away and you can't think about anything else. Looking into switching therapists now that I've moved thought, and my current shrink is suggesting some people with specialization in eating disorders. We'll see how that goes...when I find the time to sit down and look at the info, that is!

Went for a really nice run this morning though: I ran in the National Zoo! It was such a nice distraction to have flamingoes and emus to look at for a change ;)

Mom, how's your inflammation doing?

Getting excited for the Tri, Meghann? Only two weeks away, woo hoo!

Love and miss you both,
C

MRG 7.5 and 7.6

Hi Guys - Did a 3 mile run yesterday while Rylie was at practice.  Did a bunch of lunges, squats, etc also.  This morning I swam for 40 minutes.  Coudln't do the full hour b/c I had an early meeting.  Didn't go to our tri club this evening b/c it was storming.  can't say I was super upset.  It was kind of nice to have an evening at home.

7/6/11

First and foremost: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MEGHANN!!!!

Whew what a bunch of exhausting days. Not much exercise, except a walk to the mailbox. Mom's surgery went well, but went to bed on Mon eve about midnight and up at 4:15. She came home with me yesterday and spent the night. Sandy just picked her up at 3pm today, (Wed)

Cailtyn, good for you. I am so happy that you are introducing eggs back into your diet. Les was happy to hear that you are doing that as well.

Love and miss you both

CCT 7/6/11

Hello there!

I did about 75 min worth of power yoga today: very tired from lots of early mornings this week, and my joints needed a break from all that sidewalk pounding!

And you? :)

CCT Weekend

Went for a nice run (about 40 min) on Sat and then did 25 min of tai chi...but then blew up on Sat night. Sunday I got to the gym for 30 min of walking with hills, but ate like crap the rest of the day because I was sad and upset about the movers and tired. All in all, not so hot.

But I refused to be a crankpot for the rest of my first weekend as a DC resident, so I went for a run Monday morning (just under an hour) around my new neighborhood, which was gorgeous and exciting given the new scenery. we walked about a million miles while down on the national mall for fireworks as well. Also went for a 45 min run this morning (different route) around sunrise, and that was really nice. I have a feeling that living in the city is going to be really bad for my knees, because there's just so much great running to be had!

I bought eggs and string cheese when I went grocery shopping yesterday...it's going to be weird to eat eggs again after so long, but I'll see if it helps at all.

Love and miss you both. Can't WAIT to come see you soon!

Love,
C

MRG 7.1

Can't believe it's July already. I was a bum this morning and slept in a little bit.  I was really tired.  We attempted to go for a mountain bike ride with the kids this evening, but it was a little challenging.  Tanner fell into a cactus and we had to do cacti needle removal for a while.  And Rylie was psyching herself out at every turn / hill etc.  It was a little more challenging than we thought though.  Got my workout by balancingthe kids on their bikes, etc

I should go swimming tomorrow at the lake since Ziggy and the kids are going to work on th ramp at Chris and Lana's but I also need to go grocery shopping.  We have noooo food in the house.  And i've been craving  big juicy hamburger and green leafy veggies.  Apparently I'm missing some key nutrients.  So I'm going to opt for the store so I can get the fuel I need.

RLT 7/1/11

Well let's see if this one works, the last one is in oblivion I guess.

Yesterday I went for a walk and today I did the same. Still working on the bursitis and the knees.

Caitlyn, hoping you too will find someone to go with you to the fireworks. No plans yet except Sandy's on the fourth. Miss you oodles and can't wait to see you.

Love you both

Happy July!

Hi there,
Geesh, Meghann, you're going to be ready for the Olympics before we know it! Good for you with that 8 min mile: you'd leave me in the dust! Not sure I want to embarrass myself by running with you when I come to visit, especially since you'll really smoke me with the altitude! ;)

Today I went for a quick 25 min run outside, and then I'm going to yoga tonight.

I'm nervous about this weekend: I'm already feeling kind of lonely, which is silly cause I should be used to doing stuff alone by now (and usually it's fine!), but it's just getting to me more than usual right now...hopefully I'll be able to find some people to go to the Mall with for the fireworks on Monday. Any exciting plans for the fourth for you guys?

Love,
C :)
